Von Hertzen Brothers - New Day Rising
Don't search in your memory. Von Hertzen Brothers come from Finland where they are stars but unfortunately they are not known in France. They are three brothers, Mikko, Kie and Jonne with their friends Mikko Kaakkuriniemi on the drums and Juha Kuoppala on the keyboards.
This New Day Rising is their sixth album since 2001. I have to say they are a very pleasant discovery. Their music is refreshing, melodic, of good taste. It looks like a new spring.
This album contains some gems like Hold Me Up, the wonderful Black Rain, the burning and heavy You Don't Know My Name, the sublime Love Burns which reminds me Queen for its guitars and the voice of the great Freddie Mercury. But Mikko's voice is more hoarse. The keyboards intro of Sunday Child is very pretty, followed by Mikko's voice. Drums and guitars... One more time an unstoppable chorus. Almost seven minutes of pure intensity.
« Hibernating Heart » is the quietest song of the album with its lovely and clear sounding guitars and its flute. Mikko's voice is astonishing.
Beautiful guitars, highly diversifies songs, pleasant choirs, a great singer, great musicians and let's have a word for a perfect production of mister Garth Richardson (Biffy Clyro, Rage Against The Machine). New Day Rising is impeccably mixed by Randy Staub (Metallica, Alice In Chains) and the essential Ted Jensen who masterised the whole.
Don't miss out of this band, it's refreshing, pleasant to the ear, well made. We just wait that France wakes up and does like Finland and Great-Britain and adopts The Von Hertzen Brothers. A beautiful family. Hey guys we're waiting for you to rock France !
