Brisa ROCHE - Low Fidelity

What I like in the world of Brisa Roché is her fragility. But a fragility of which she is not ashamed, on the contrary she willingly displays it. She shows it through her records, lyrics of her songs. We do not wonder what she wants to express in her texts, we understand it right away. And from her weaknesses come out a force.
She reveals herself as she is, made of modesty and expresses herself freely. Yes, of course, her albums are not perfect, but who cares, what counts is what they mean and the fact that they are composed, written, recorded with sincerity, respect for fans and love of music. Because Brisa knows how to write at any time with a piece of paper and a pencil or noting ideas on her cell phone, with or without an instrument. The important ? That's the idea.
After a superb Father, Brisa Roché returns on July 12, 2019 with an intimate album, entitled Low Fidelity. She recorded very quickly, as urgently and in need. This sensation that she had to share her new songs and what she had in mind. Do not look in the production of mirobolant effects or careful arrangements but you will find spontaneity and imperfection that are good these days. This kind of work has already yielded masterpieces like Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.
Twelve titles, some very short ones, cover Low Fidelity. Many songs are simply made of vocals and guitar. We hear the sounds of passage from one chord to another, and I find it an absolute charm. It feels good to hear some imperfections. I really like Except For Love, sober and dark. But the short titles, Summerelo (very 60's), Hey little Boy, Rings, Daughter of A Teacher (very nice), Tiger Song, breathe this urgent need and deliver moods of the present.

American folk is present on California Man, made of acoustics, vocals and choirs. A title that surely would love PJ Harvey for example. As for Can You Run, it's a slightly darker title, with delicate arpeggios and with as much uncertainty in the voice.

The other titles are Secret Song, and the delicate Terribly Hard, so fragile that one is afraid of damaging it by breathing too much when listening. Can't Stand is the first single of the album and the first video. It is a marvel of sweetness and purity. Babe closes this Low Fidelity, but oh so sincere and touching.

Brisa, I applaud you for what you dared to do in 2019. Music with passion and honesty. You offer us a stripped music and a spectral beauty. Thank you.
